Intermezzo — having a deeper look at aspects of the human condition
German Sociologist Hartmut Rosa supplies an interesting perspective in this theory of resonance (Resonance — a sociology of our relationship to the world) [1]. An extract from the definition is prudent:
“Resonance is not an echo, but a responsive relationship, requiring both sides speak with their own voice”.
He describes 3 major modern crises and their root causes:
Environmental crisis — because of the fact that we lose nature as a sphere of resonance when we treat it only as a resource (the same thing can be claimed for the use of humans).
- Not the fact that we are imprudent in our use of natural resources!
